We set out for Arches National Park first thing in the morning. We had to stop at an auto parts store on the way, because our power inverter "blew up" on Thursday night!!! Unfortunately, it took out one the car's power sockets with it, so I'm down to one power socket. I hope we don't have any more problems!
We got to the park at around noon and started exploring the park. It was about 95 degrees when we got there, but it was "a dry heat"!!!
One of the first major attractions you see as you drive the park's main road is a rock formation named "Balanced Rock". While we were there, Josh decided to try to create his own balanced rock formation, adding to the large collection of others!
Arches National Park is about ... arches. They're pretty cool to see up close, walk under and climb. We did a lot of hiking to get to see all the arches, probably over 10 miles in total, in the 95 - 98 degree heat!!!
We were both pretty exhausted by the end of the day. We spent the night at the "Devils Garden" campground, which is at the end of the park's main road. It was a beautiful night and we turned in pretty much right after dinner ... which was at about 9:30!!!
This morning, we're on our way to Bryce Canyon National Park via Capitol Reef National Park. We're just planning to do a "drive by" at Capitol Reef, though we may do one short hike just for kicks!
That's about it for now ... we'll be back as soon as we can.
