Well, we got off to a bit of a late start this morning. Who knew cooking pancakes and cleaning up afterwards would take so long! We've decided that from now on, the days we have to travel, we're going to stick to cereal for breakfast.
Anyway, we left Streetsboro, Ohio at around 8:30. As we headed west, we could see very dark skies ahead of us. By the time we reached Toledo, we were in the middle of a massive thunderstorm. I was actually looking for funnel clouds at one point!!!
We got through the storm and continued on towards Indiana. Literally, when we reached the Ohio/Indiana border, and came out of the Ohio toll booths, we found ourselves in the middle of another massive thunderstorm. The lightning was something to see!!!
Finally, we emerged into clear weather and made it the rest of the way to Rock Island, Illinois, our destination for today, without further incident. On our way, we stopped at a Cabela's sporting goods store. This was truly a Mecca for any outdoor enthusiast. I decided to buy a couple of reasonably priced camping cots, and as I sit here in our tent on said cot typing this, I must say, they were a very good investment!
In any event, when we arrived at our campground, we got our camp set up and then played a little bit of tetherball, followed by miniature golf, and then we went for a swim in the pool.
After that, we went back to our campsite to make dinner. It was taco night, and Josh did most of the cooking!!! He did a fine job.
I have a couple of pictures from today, but the camera is in the car right now and I'm just too tired to go and get it!!!
That's it for tonight. Tomorrow, we have an even longer drive than today, which turned out to be about 8 and a half hours, with stops included. Tomorrow's drive is looking to be closer to 10 hours. Assuming all goes well, we'll be coming to you from North Platte, Nebraska some time tomorrow night.
Good night!
